The revolution of 1848 abolished serfdom, and after nearly six hundred years the people of Bős stopped being the Amades' subjects. What arrived in place of the estate was industry of a kind the island had never seen: a sugar factory worked here from 1855 to 1876 and was among the largest in Hungary. Sugar beet did well in the deep alluvial soil, the factory took everything the district could grow, and for twenty years this was a working industrial village. Then it closed, and Bős went back to grain.Revolúcia roku 1848 zrušila poddanstvo a obyvatelia Bőša prestali byť po takmer šiestich storočiach poddanými Amadeovcov. Namiesto panstva prišiel priemysel, aký ostrov dovtedy nepoznal: v rokoch 1855 až 1876 tu fungoval cukrovar, ktorý patril k najväčším v Uhorsku. Cukrovej repe sa na hlbokej naplavenej pôde darilo, závod odobral všetko, čo okres dokázal dopestovať, a dvadsať rokov bola z dediny fungujúca priemyselná obec. Potom cukrovar zavreli a Bőš sa vrátil k obiliu.
