In the first decades of the fourteenth century Lednica fell into the hands of Matúš Čák of Trenčín, the most powerful lord in this part of the kingdom, who ran his castles as a private country. After his death the crown pulled the castle back: from 1321 it was royal again. Castles changed hands constantly like this, and every change reached the villages below in the same form — new dues, new bailiffs, new demands for labour.V prvých desaťročiach 14. storočia sa Lednica dostala do rúk Matúša Čáka Trenčianskeho, najmocnejšieho pána tejto časti kráľovstva, ktorý svoje hrady spravoval ako súkromnú krajinu. Po jeho smrti si hrad vzala späť koruna: od roku 1321 bol znova kráľovský. Hrady menili majiteľov ustavične a každá zmena dorazila do dedín pod nimi v tej istej podobe — nové dávky, noví úradníci, nové požiadavky na robotu.
