In the first quarter of the fifteenth century the castle belonged to Stibor of Stiborice, the Polish-born magnate who served King Sigismund and collected castles down the whole Váh valley, Beckov among them. Afterwards it was royal property again. Then in 1458 King Matthias Corvinus gave the castle, the town and sixteen villages with it to Ladislav Podmanický, as a reward for loyalty. That single grant decided the next hundred years. It turned a royal watchpost into a family seat, and it put the Podmanickýs in a position from which they could become a problem for the crown that had made them.V prvej štvrtine 15. storočia patril hrad Stiborovi zo Stiboríc, veľmožovi poľského pôvodu, ktorý slúžil kráľovi Žigmundovi a nazbieral hrady po celej doline Váhu, medzi nimi aj Beckov. Potom bol znova kráľovským majetkom. Roku 1458 daroval kráľ Matej Korvín hrad, mesto a šestnásť dedín k nemu Ladislavovi Podmanickému za vernosť. Tento jediný dar rozhodol o ďalšom storočí. Z kráľovskej strážnice sa stalo rodové sídlo a Podmanickovci sa dostali do postavenia, v ktorom sa mohli stať problémom pre korunu, ktorá ich vytvorila.
