Ľubovňa CastleĽubovniansky hrad
On 15 March 1412 Sigismund of Luxembourg and Władysław II Jagiełło met here and made an alliance; later the same year Sigismund pledged sixteen Spiš towns, together with the Ľubovňa and Podolínec estates, to Poland against an enormous loan he never repaid. From then until 1772 the castle was the residence of the Polish starosta, the governor of the pledged towns — a small Polish administration living and working inside the Kingdom of Hungary. The office was held for a time by Zawisza the Black, the most famous Polish knight of the age. The castle did not escape the century's fighting either: Hussite raiders damaged it in 1432 and again in 1451.15. marca 1412 sa tu stretli Žigmund Luxemburský a Vladislav II. Jagelovský a uzavreli spojenectvo; ešte v tom roku dal Žigmund do poľského zálohu šestnásť spišských miest spolu s ľubovnianskym a podolínskym panstvom, a to za obrovskú pôžičku, ktorú nikdy nesplatil. Odvtedy až do roku 1772 bol hrad sídlom poľského starostu, správcu zálohovaných miest — malej poľskej administratívy, ktorá žila a úradovala vnútri Uhorského kráľovstva. Úrad istý čas zastával Zavíša Čierny, najslávnejší poľský rytier tej doby. Bojom storočia sa hrad nevyhol: husitské oddiely ho poškodili v roku 1432 a znovu v roku 1451.
