1715–1778 Thirty families, lime and linenTridsať rodín, vápno a plátno

By 1715 Zuberec was back to thirty farming families, roughly 150 people. What they lived on says a good deal about the place: not grain but sheep, cattle, burnt lime and woven cloth — the things you can make when the field will not feed you. The same two years brought what the records call the frozen years, when the harvest failed and people went hungry. Over the rest of the century the village grew hard: by the 1770s about 129 dependent peasant families were paying dues on ground that had carried five homesteads within their grandparents' memory.Do roku 1715 sa Zuberec dostal späť na tridsať gazdovských rodín, teda asi 150 ľudí. To, z čoho žili, hovorí o tomto mieste veľa: nie z obilia, ale z oviec, dobytka, pálenia vápna a tkania plátna — z toho, čo sa dá vyrobiť, keď pole neuživí. Tie isté dva roky priniesli to, čo záznamy nazývajú zamrznutými rokmi: úroda vyhorela mrazom a ľudia hladovali. Zvyšok storočia dedina rástla tvrdo: v sedemdesiatych rokoch 18. storočia tu platilo dávky okolo 129 poddanských rodín na pôde, kde ešte za pamäti ich starých otcov stálo päť usadlostí.
