In 1604 the village went out of existence. Hajdúks — irregular soldiers — plundering during the uprising of István Bocskai against the Habsburgs took it apart, and when a census was made in 1608 nobody was living here at all. In 1609 it appears again as a new settlement, Zubercza, and in 1612 the palatine Juraj Thurzo issued a charter to the šoltýs Jakub Baran setting out what he owed and what was owed to him; Baran was still šoltýs in 1619, with five Wallachian farmers under him. Notice how fast that went: eight years from nothing to a chartered village. Land nobody else wanted could always be resettled, because there were always people with nothing.V roku 1604 dedina zanikla. V roku 1609 sa objavuje znova ako nová osada Zubercza a v roku 1612 vydal palatín Juraj Thurzo šoltýsovi Jakubovi Baranovi listinu, ktorá presne určila jeho povinnosti aj jeho práva; Baran bol šoltýsom ešte aj v roku 1619 a mal pod sebou piatich valaských sedliakov. Všimnite si, ako rýchlo to šlo: osem rokov od ničoho po dedinu s výsadnou listinou. Pôda, o ktorú nikto iný nestál, sa dala osídliť vždy, lebo ľudí, čo nemali nič, bolo vždy dosť.
