1683 is the year the Ottoman army stood before Vienna and a Polish and Lithuanian army marched to relieve it. Zuberec's own record says the rear guard of the Polish king Jan III Sobieski completed the ruin of the village, taking the grain and driving off the livestock. Habovka, three kilometres down the road, remembers the same passage as Lithuanian troops who burned it out entirely. By 1690 only three holdings had been resettled. It is a useful correction to a habit in Slovak local history, where nearly every ruin gets blamed on the Turks: here the Ottomans never came, and the damage was done by the army marching against them.Rok 1683 je rokom, keď osmanské vojsko stálo pred Viedňou a poľsko-litovská armáda šla mesto vyslobodiť.
