An Ottoman raiding party burned Vráble in 1530, eleven years before the sultan even took Buda — raids ran far ahead of the frontier itself. Once the frontier did arrive, the valley road through Vráble became a raiding route and the town was hit again and again through the century. In 1624 an order went out to build a palanka here: a fort of earth and timber instead of stone, quick and cheap, and perfectly adequate against horsemen with no siege guns. It was finished around 1626, and beat off an Ottoman attack that same year.Osmanský lúpežný oddiel vypálil Vráble už roku 1530, jedenásť rokov predtým, ako sultán vôbec obsadil Budín — nájazdy predbiehali samotnú hranicu.
