1945 – 1989 A state museum on the rockŠtátne múzeum na skale

Under the state the castle became one of the best known museum sites in Czechoslovakia. The exhibition ran through three parts of the hill: fortification building from the thirteenth to the eighteenth century and the deep past of eastern Gemer in the oldest core, the Bebek and Andrássy rooms with seventeenth-century furniture and the county assembly hall in the middle castle, the chapel, the family crypt, the castle kitchen with its open hearth and a music salon below. It was placed under national monument protection in the nineteen sixties, though sources give different exact years, and the monuments office carried out the last large repair of the twentieth century. The lesson of these decades is dull and important: a monument survives because somebody is paid to look after it every single year.Za štátu sa hrad stal jedným z najznámejších múzejných miest v Česko-Slovensku. Expozícia bola rozložená v troch častiach kopca: fortifikačné staviteľstvo od trinásteho do osemnásteho storočia a dávna minulosť východného Gemera v najstaršom jadre, bebekovské a andrášiovské miestnosti s nábytkom zo sedemnásteho storočia a župná zasadacia sieň v strednom hrade, kaplnka, rodová hrobka, hradná kuchyňa s otvoreným ohniskom a hudobný salón v dolnom hrade. V šesťdesiatych rokoch ho vyhlásili za národnú kultúrnu pamiatku, hoci pramene uvádzajú rozdielne presné roky, a pamiatkový úrad tu urobil poslednú veľkú opravu dvadsiateho storočia. Poučenie z týchto desaťročí je nudné a dôležité: pamiatka prežije preto, lebo ju má každý jeden rok kto opatrovať.
