Once the fighting stopped the Andrássys turned a fortress into a home. After 1710 the castle was remodelled at the same time as the manor at Betliar a few kilometres away, which belonged to the same family, and the two buildings are two halves of one arrangement: the stronghold on the rock and the comfortable house on the flat. A hall for the county assembly — the congregation hall, where the nobility of Gemer met to govern themselves — was fitted into the upper castle, and in 1770 a cannon bastion above the entrance was rebuilt as a baroque chapel, which holds the painting of the Krásnohorská Madonna of 1739. A castle being given assembly rooms and an altar is a castle nobody expects to have to defend.Keď sa boje skončili, Andrášiovci premenili pevnosť na domov. Po roku 1710 hrad upravovali súčasne s kaštieľom v Betliari pár kilometrov odtiaľto, ktorý patril tomu istému rodu — obe stavby sú dve polovice jedného usporiadania: pevnosť na skale a pohodlný dom v rovine. V hornom hrade vznikla zasadacia župná sieň, kde sa schádzala gemerská šľachta, a v roku 1770 dali Andrášiovci prestavať delovú baštu nad vstupom na barokovú kaplnku, v ktorej je obraz Krásnohorskej Madony z roku 1739. Hrad, do ktorého sa vstavujú zasadacie siene a oltár, je hrad, ktorý už nikto nečaká, že bude brániť.
