The First Vienna Award of 2 November 1938 drew a new border through Jelšava, Rožňava and Košice, and Krásnohorské Podhradie with its castle fell on the Hungarian side; Hungarian troops moved in during the first days of November. For the castle the war had only one ending. In 1945 the Andrássys lost everything here, and Krásna Hôrka became state property after roughly three hundred and seventy years in one family. The collections stayed in the building, so the museum carried on under new management — which is the difference between this castle and almost every other aristocratic house in the country.Prvá viedenská arbitráž z 2. novembra 1938 viedla novú hranicu cez Jelšavu, Rožňavu a Košice a Krásnohorské Podhradie aj s hradom pripadlo Maďarsku; maďarské vojsko sem prišlo v prvých novembrových dňoch. Pre hrad mala vojna jediné vyústenie. V roku 1945 tu Andrášiovci prišli o všetko a Krásna Hôrka sa po zhruba tristosedemdesiatich rokoch v jednom rode stala majetkom štátu. Zbierky zostali v budove, a tak múzeum pokračovalo len pod novou správou — a práve v tom sa tento hrad líši od takmer každého iného šľachtického sídla v krajine.
