After the communist takeover of February 1948 the four water mills on the Rudava were confiscated and the Nivky farm passed to the state farms. The ferry across the Morava was shut and its buildings pulled down: the river was now the western edge of the Eastern bloc, and its meadows a closed border zone that ordinary people could not enter. In August 1950, during the state's campaign against religious orders, the sisters were taken away from the Hubertinum and the name and its iron cross were stripped off the building, which was kept for school use. The manor, bought by the state in 1941 for a psychiatric hospital, stayed a medical institution — later an institute for the treatment of addictions.Po komunistickom prevrate vo februári 1948 skonfiškovali štyri vodné mlyny na Rudave a hospodársky dvor Nivky prešiel pod Štátne majetky. Kaštieľ, ktorý štát kúpil roku 1941 pre psychiatrickú liečebňu, ostal zdravotníckym zariadením — neskôr v ňom fungoval ústav na liečbu závislostí.
