Through the sixteenth century the village belonged to the Lembach family, landlords from Lower Austria; a tax list of 1553 credits Leopold Lembach with twenty-eight taxed holdings here. Two very different groups of newcomers arrived in that same century. Croats and Serbs came north out of the lands the Ottoman advance had swallowed and settled across Záhorie; and the Anabaptists came east — German-speaking Christians driven out of the Tyrol and Moravia for baptising adults instead of infants, for refusing oaths and for refusing to carry weapons — whom landlords in western Hungary took in because they were superb craftsmen. Accounts differ on the year they reached Veľké Leváre, one saying 1547 and another 1588, but the tax survey of 1595 counted sixteen Habán holdings among the village's fifty-eight, so by then their own court on the edge of the village, the Neuhof or New Yard, was a substantial part of the place.Počas 16. storočia patrila dedina Lembachovcom, dolnorakúskym zemepánom; daňový súpis z roku 1553 pripisuje Leopoldovi Lembachovi dvadsaťosem zdanených usadlostí. V tom istom storočí sem prišli dva celkom odlišné prúdy prisťahovalcov. Chorváti a Srbi utekali na sever z krajov, ktoré pohltil osmanský postup, a usádzali sa po celom Záhorí; z opačnej strany prišli novokrstenci — nemecky hovoriaci kresťania, ktorých z Tirolska a Moravy vyháňali za to, že krstili dospelých namiesto detí, odmietali prísahu aj zbraň — a západouhorskí zemepáni ich brali, lebo to boli vynikajúci remeselníci. Rok ich príchodu do Veľkých Levár uvádzajú pramene rôzne, raz 1547, inokedy 1588, no daňový súpis z roku 1595 už napočítal šestnásť habánskych usadlostí z celkových päťdesiatich ôsmich, takže ich vlastný dvor na okraji dediny, Neuhof čiže Nový dvor, bol vtedy poriadnou časťou obce.
