The castle is named in a document of 1242; the settlement below it appears four years later, in 1246, as Filek. That order explains the whole place. Nobody chose this spot for its fields — the basalt neck standing alone in the plain was the reason, and the town is what collected at its foot: the people who supplied the garrison, worked the lord's land, and ran for the gate when the alarm went up.Hrad spomína listina z roku 1242, osada pod ním sa objavuje o štyri roky neskôr, roku 1246, pod menom Filek. Nikto si toto miesto nevybral pre polia — dôvodom bol čadičový sopúch osamotene stojaci v rovine a mesto je to, čo sa nazbieralo pri jeho päte: ľudia, ktorí zásobovali posádku, obrábali panskú pôdu a pri poplachu utekali k bráne.
