2002 – today A steelworks takes the castle onHrad si vzali železiarne

Through the 1990s the castle was looked after by the regional monuments office, and the state then looked for an owner strong enough to keep it. In October 2002 the steelworks Železiarne Podbrezová signed the purchase contract, and a systematic restoration has been running for two decades since — a rescue project with no real parallel in Slovakia. The castle can now be seen on a guided tour: the upper courtyard with its two carved portals, the chapel with its frescoes, the sacristy's painted wooden ceiling, and the well cut 62.5 metres down into the rock with an escape passage leading out beyond the walls. In the lower courtyard stands the linden known as Corvinus's — one of the oldest in Central Europe, and the part of the story that is tradition rather than record.Cez deväťdesiate roky sa o hrad staral krajský pamiatkový úrad a štát potom hľadal majiteľa dosť silného na to, aby ho udržal. V októbri 2002 podpísali kúpnu zmluvu Železiarne Podbrezová a odvtedy tu už dve desaťročia beží systematická obnova — záchranný projekt, ktorý na Slovensku nemá obdobu. Hrad sa dnes dá vidieť na komentovanej prehliadke: horné nádvorie s dvoma kamennými portálmi, kaplnka s freskami, maľovaný drevený strop sakristie a studňa vysekaná 62,5 metra do skaly s únikovou chodbou von za hradby. Na dolnom nádvorí stojí lipa zvaná Korvínova — jedna z najstarších v strednej Európe a tá časť príbehu, ktorá je tradíciou, nie prameňom.
