In the autumn of 1604 the captain Gašpar Tribel was put in charge of defending the mining towns. The threat that came was not Ottoman but the anti-Habsburg rising of Štefan Bočkaj, and in 1605 his hajdúk troops, reinforced by Turkish and Tatar fighters, laid siege to Ľupča — the largest military event in the castle's whole history. The outer walls had been rebuilt around 1600 and they held; Tribel kept the castle and lost ten men, whose names are still on a memorial tablet inside. Sixty-five years later the castle was lost without a shot. In November 1670, after the Wesselényi conspiracy was uncovered, Leopold I confiscated the property of Mária Séčiová, and by 1672 Ľupča belonged to the Mining Chamber in Banská Bystrica — which wanted it above all for its forests, because copper smelting ran on charcoal.Na jeseň 1604 poverili kapitána Gašpara Tribela obranou banských miest.
