Once the castle belonged to the Chamber it was an asset, not a residence. Rulers and officials preferred the newer, more comfortable manor houses being built down in the valleys, and Ľupča gradually stopped being the administrative centre of anything. A fire settled the matter; after it, only the repairs that were strictly necessary were made. The village below kept its own life — a plague column was raised there in the eighteenth century in thanks for the end of an outbreak, and the original statues from it, dated 1725, are today kept at the castle for safety.Odkedy hrad patril komore, bol majetkom, nie sídlom.
