Nobody claims the Mongols burned Blatnica Castle in 1241, and nobody can, because in 1241 there was no castle here. The invasion left its mark on this place the other way round. When the Mongol army withdrew, King Béla IV concluded that a kingdom defended by wooden forts would not survive a second visit, and he began pressing his nobles to build in stone on high ground. Blatnica Castle belongs to that wave: it was put up in the second half of the thirteenth century, in the decades after the invasion, not before it.Nikto netvrdí, že Mongoli roku 1241 vypálili Blatnický hrad — a ani nemôže, lebo roku 1241 tu žiadny hrad nestál.
