On 8 February 1989 Rajecké Teplice was granted the status of a town — ten months before the Velvet Revolution swept away the government that granted it. By then the place had a spa employing most of the people in it, a park, a lake and a railway station, and the paperwork had simply caught up with what it already was. It is also a small reminder of how ordinary business goes on right up to the moment a system ends: council meetings, statuses, plans for a new bath house. Then came November 1989, and everything was different.8. februára 1989 získali Rajecké Teplice štatút mesta — desať mesiacov predtým, než Nežná revolúcia zmietla vládu, ktorá im ho udelila. Mali už vtedy kúpele, ktoré zamestnávali väčšinu miestnych, park, jazero aj železničnú stanicu, takže papiere len dobehli to, čím obec dávno bola. Je to zároveň drobná pripomienka, že bežné úradovanie ide ďalej až do chvíle, keď systém skončí: zasadnutia, štatúty, plány na nový kúpeľný dom. A potom prišiel november 1989 a všetko bolo inak.
