Somebody actually lived up here. Hermits occupied the little building against the church wall for generations and taught the children in the village school; the death of the second-to-last of them is entered in the parish register in 1804. In 1777 the church itself was rebuilt more drastically than at any time since the Middle Ages: a tower was raised in front of the entrance, brick vaults were thrown over the interior, and a gallery was put in above the door. That is the building you see today — an early medieval church in eighteenth-century clothes, which is exactly why its real age was so hard to see.Hore naozaj niekto býval. V malej stavbe pri múre kostolíka žili po generácie pustovníci a učili deti v dedinskej škole; smrť predposledného z nich zapísali do farskej matriky v roku 1804. V roku 1777 kostolík prestavali radikálnejšie než kedykoľvek od stredoveku: pred vchod postavili vežu, interiér zaklenuli tehlovými klenbami a nad vchodom zriadili emporu. Takto vyzerá dodnes – ranostredoveká stavba v barokovom obleku, čo je presne dôvod, prečo bolo také ťažké rozpoznať jej skutočný vek.
