In 1850 the main line from Bratislava to Pest was opened through Nové Zámky, and the town's whole future turned. Branch lines followed towards Nitra, Komárno and the north, and a place that had been a demolished fortress with a market became the junction where the southern lowland met itself. Grain, sugar beet and people moved through it, and the town grew fast. Ninety-five years later, that same junction is what would bring the bombers.Roku 1850 otvorili cez Nové Zámky hlavnú trať z Bratislavy do Pešti a budúcnosť mesta sa otočila. Pribudli odbočky na Nitru, do Komárna a na sever a z miesta, ktoré bolo dovtedy zbúranou pevnosťou s trhom, sa stal uzol, kde sa celá južná nížina stretávala. Prechádzalo cezeň obilie, cukrová repa aj ľudia a mesto rýchlo rástlo. O deväťdesiatpäť rokov neskôr priláka ten istý uzol bombardéry.
