Every time the castle was damaged the bishops rebuilt it, and in the eighteenth century they rebuilt it in Baroque — which is the castle you walk into today. The bishop's palace went up on the courtyard, white and residential rather than defensive; the upper church was remodelled at the start of the century, and below it the seventeenth-century lower church received its vault and its marble altar relief. Into the corner of the outer bastion beside the bridge went a stone atlas figure, straining as though he alone were holding the wall up: Corgoň, whom the town turned into a blacksmith of legendary strength and whom passers-by still touch for luck. Three churches on three levels — Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque — fused into one building, which is why climbing up inside the cathedral is climbing backwards through eight hundred years.Vždy, keď hrad utrpel škody, biskupi ho obnovili — a v 18. storočí ho obnovili barokovo, takže dnes vchádzate práve do tejto podoby.
