The caves of the Slovak and Aggtelek Karst were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1995, and the property was later extended to include the Ochtiná aragonite cave, which lies under the Koniar plateau. Slovak sources often call it one of only three aragonite caves of its kind open to the public anywhere in the world; which the other two are is not always agreed, so treat that number as a claim rather than a fact. The visitors, the car park and the ticket desk are all at the cave, several kilometres from the houses. The village itself is quiet, ageing and residential — the church is locked between services and opened by a keyholder, so you telephone ahead or you look at the outside.Jaskyne Slovenského a Aggtelekského krasu zapísali v roku 1995 do zoznamu svetového dedičstva UNESCO a lokalitu neskôr rozšírili aj o Ochtinskú aragonitovú jaskyňu, ktorá leží pod Koniarskou planinou. Samotná dedina je tichá, starnúca a obytná — kostol býva medzi bohoslužbami zamknutý a otvára ho kľúčnik, takže buď zavoláte vopred, alebo si obzriete iba fasádu.
