Mines, guilds and the EnlightenmentBane, cechy a osvietenstvo

For much of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century the Lutheran pastor here was Ladislav Bartholomaeides (1754–1825), and he did something unusual for a village clergyman: he wrote his county down. His long Latin description of Gemer set out its villages, its mines, its rivers, its people and its history in a detail nobody had attempted before, and historians use it still. This is what the Enlightenment looked like in a poor Slovak village — not palaces and academies, but a parish minister with a notebook who decided that ordinary places deserved to be recorded. He is one reason so much is known about Gemer at all.Väčšinu konca 18. a začiatku 19. storočia bol tunajším evanjelickým farárom Ladislav Bartholomaeides (1754 – 1825) a urobil niečo, čo od dedinského kňaza nikto nečakal: opísal celú stolicu.
