After Mohács in 1526 the kingdom lost its capital and its centre; Pressburg became the capital of the part the Habsburgs still held, and the road east out of it — through Senec — turned from a trade route into a supply road towards a front line. The Renaissance manor on the square known as the Turkish House was built in 1556, with a half-round bastion on one wing, which tells you what people expected of the times; what exactly earned the building its nickname is not certain. The nobles of Bratislava county met at Senec again and again in these centuries, because it was central, on the road, and out of the way of the fighting. In 1574 Albert Szenczi Molnár was born here — the Calvinist scholar who translated the Psalms into Hungarian and compiled the Latin–Hungarian dictionary that schools used for generations, and who took his surname from this town.Po Moháči v roku 1526 prišlo kráľovstvo o hlavné mesto aj o svoj stred; Prešporok sa stal hlavným mestom tej časti, ktorú Habsburgovci ešte držali, a cesta vedúca z neho na východ — cez Senec — sa zmenila z obchodnej trasy na zásobovaciu cestu k frontu.
