Nothing yet names Tajov. What exists is the reason for it. Banská Bystrica was granted town privileges by King Béla IV in 1255 and Kremnica by Charles Robert in 1328, and both towns lived on metal — copper here, gold and the royal mint there. Smelting ore eats charcoal, propping a mine eats timber, and both had to come off the wooded ridge between the two towns. Somebody had to live up there and cut it. That work is what eventually made a village in this valley.Tajov ešte nikto nemenuje. Jestvuje však dôvod, prečo raz vznikne. Banská Bystrica dostala mestské výsady od Bela IV. v roku 1255 a Kremnica od Karola Róberta v roku 1328 a obe mestá žili z kovu — tu z medi, tam zo zlata a kráľovskej mincovne. Tavenie rudy zožerie drevené uhlie, výdreva v bani zožerie drevo a oboje sa muselo vziať zo zalesneného chrbta medzi tými dvoma mestami. Niekto tam hore musel bývať a rúbať. Práve táto práca napokon v tejto doline vytvorila obec.
