The Velvet Revolution of November 1989 ended the ban on religious orders, and the Salesians returned to Hronský Beňadik, staying until 1999. What they inherited was a very large medieval complex that had been repaired in the 1880s and neglected for most of the century since — damp, dispersed furnishings, roofs and vaults needing work. Restoration on a site like this is measured in decades rather than seasons, and parts of it still show the gap.Nežná revolúcia z novembra 1989 zrušila zákaz reholí a saleziáni sa do Hronského Beňadika vrátili; pôsobili tu do roku 1999. Zdedili veľmi rozsiahly stredoveký areál, opravený v osemdesiatych rokoch 19. storočia a potom väčšinu ďalšieho storočia zanedbávaný — vlhkosť, rozptýlené zariadenie, strechy a klenby, ktoré volali po práci. Obnova takéhoto areálu sa meria na desaťročia, nie na sezóny, a na niektorých jeho častiach tú medzeru dodnes vidieť.
