In 1730 Gabriel Balassa built a baroque residence across the lower ward: a two-storey house on a U-shaped plan, raised on the fortress footings and partly out of the fortress's own stone. Its chapel, dedicated to St Anne, was finished in 1759 — the slender turret you can see from the park belongs to it. The result is worth looking at properly, because it is unusual: a comfortable country house sitting inside the broken shell of a frontier castle, built by the very family that had lost the castle, at the moment they stopped expecting to be attacked.Roku 1730 dal Gabriel Balaša postaviť naprieč dolným nádvorím barokový kaštieľ: dvojpodlažnú stavbu na pôdoryse do U, položenú na základoch pevnosti a sčasti postavenú z jej vlastného kameňa. Kaplnku zasvätenú svätej Anne dokončili roku 1759 — patrí jej štíhla vežička, ktorú vidno z parku. Výsledok stojí za dlhší pohľad, lebo je nezvyčajný: pohodlné vidiecke sídlo vo vnútri rozbitej škrupiny pohraničnej pevnosti, postavené presne tým rodom, ktorý o hrad prišiel — vo chvíli, keď prestal čakať útok.
