In the summer of 1575 a campaign launched out of Buda swept up the whole chain of Novohrad hill castles — Divín, Šomoška and Modrý Kameň — in a matter of weeks. Modrý Kameň held out for three days. On 17 July 1575 its commander, Imrich Pribek, got out and made for Divín, and the castle became an Ottoman garrison post. The Ottomans held it for the best part of twenty years, called it Ikipolanka, and added a second line of fortification of their own. For those two decades, the road below this hill was an Ottoman road.V lete 1575 zmietla výprava vypravená z Budína celú reťaz novohradských hradov — Divín, Šomošku aj Modrý Kameň — za niekoľko týždňov. Modrý Kameň vydržal tri dni. Sedemnásteho júla 1575 sa jeho veliteľ Imrich Pribek prebil von a zamieril na Divín a z hradu sa stala osmanská posádka. Osmani ho držali takmer dvadsať rokov, volali ho Ikipolanka a pristavali si vlastné druhé opevnenie. Tie dve desaťročia bola cesta pod týmto kopcom osmanskou cestou.
