For most of its history Bešeňová was farmland like the rest of the basin, and the trades recorded here are the ones the ground made possible: farming, distilling, quarrying, masonry and timber work. The quarrying and the masonry are the travertine speaking — a village standing on workable stone becomes a village of stonemasons. The warm water was a local matter: people used it, and nobody built anything around it. That stayed true for another two hundred years.Bešeňová bola po väčšinu dejín poľnohospodárskou obcou ako zvyšok kotliny a remeslá, ktoré sa tu zaznamenali, sú presne tie, ktoré umožnila pôda: roľníctvo, pálenie liehu, lámanie kameňa, murárstvo a práca s drevom. Lámanie kameňa a murárstvo sú hlasom travertínu — z obce, ktorá stojí na opracovateľnom kameni, sa stane obec murárov. Teplá voda bola len miestnou vecou: ľudia ju používali a nikto okolo nej nič nepostavil. Tak to zostalo ešte ďalších dvesto rokov.
