Likava CastleLikavský hrad
In 1496 Likava passed to Stephen Zápolya, and that put it on one side of the argument that followed the catastrophe of 1526, when the Hungarian army was destroyed at Mohács and the kingdom split between two elected kings — Ferdinand of Habsburg and John Zápolya. In 1528 the imperial general Katzianer took Likava by force. Lajos Pekry rebuilt it in 1533–1535, and it is from 1533 that the Renaissance work begins: bigger windows, regular rooms, comfort grafted onto a fortress. The Báthory family held it in the middle of the century, and in 1566 Ján Krušič of Lupoglav bought it. Notice who is missing from all of this — the Ottomans never came near Liptov, and Likava's sixteenth century was about which Christian king you had backed.V roku 1496 prešla Likava na Štefana Zápoľského, čím sa ocitla na jednej strane sporu, ktorý vypukol po katastrofe roku 1526: uhorské vojsko padlo pri Moháči a kráľovstvo sa rozdelilo medzi dvoch zvolených kráľov — Ferdinanda Habsburského a Jána Zápoľského. V polovici storočia patril hrad Bátoriovcom a v roku 1566 ho kúpil Ján Krušič z Lupoglavu. Všimnite si, kto v tomto príbehu chýba — Osmani sa do Liptova nikdy nedostali a šestnáste storočie Likavy bolo o tom, ktorého kresťanského kráľa ste podporili.
