Dolný KubínDolný Kubín
Three dates compete for the title of first mention, and a student should see why that happens. A charter issued on 6 January 1314 by magister Donč, the lord who held this region for the king, names Kubín; a document of 1325 from the convent at Turiec names it again; and in 1381 there is a quarrel over field boundaries between the people of Upper Kubín and the people of Lower Kubín. Only the last of the three proves that two separate Kubíns already existed, which is why the town's own history takes 1381 seriously even though older parchments carry the name. None of them tells us when anyone actually settled here: a first mention is a fact about a surviving document, not about the arrival of people.O titul prvej písomnej zmienky sa uchádzajú tri dátumy a je poučné vedieť, prečo sa to stáva.
