The empire fell apart and the new border was drawn down the middle of the Danube, so the bridge that had joined the two towns became an international frontier. On 22 July 1919, in the fighting between the new Czechoslovakia and the short-lived Hungarian Soviet Republic, it was blown up. The Treaty of Trianon of 4 June 1920 fixed the border where it still runs. The bridge was repaired and carried traffic again between the wars, but Parkan had become something new and permanent: the last town before the line.Monarchia sa rozpadla a novú hranicu viedli stredom Dunaja, takže z mosta, ktorý obe mestá spájal, sa stal medzištátny prechod. 22. júla 1919 ho počas bojov medzi novým Československom a krátko trvajúcou Maďarskou republikou rád vyhodili do vzduchu.
