The castle was repaired once more around the middle of the eighteenth century — and then the estate moved its administration down to Tovarníky in the valley, and with the offices gone the castle had no job left. It decayed steadily from there. This is the ordinary end of a Slovak hilltop castle: not a siege, not a fire, but an accounting decision. Roads, comfort and warm rooms in the valley beat draughty walls on a crag, and the ruin you walk through today is mostly the result of that choice.Okolo polovice osemnásteho storočia hrad ešte raz opravili — lenže potom panstvo presťahovalo svoju správu dolu do Tovarník a keď odišli úrady, hrad stratil úlohu. Odvtedy vytrvalo pustol. Takto sa končí obyčajný slovenský hrad na kopci: nie obliehaním, nie požiarom, ale rozhodnutím účtovníka. Cesty, pohodlie a teplé izby v doline zvíťazili nad prievanom v múroch na skale — a zrúcanina, ktorou dnes prechádzate, je predovšetkým výsledkom tejto voľby.
