In 2007 a private investor bought the ruins from the municipality. Restoration began in 2009 under the supervision of the monuments authorities, the walls were consolidated, the roofs went back on, the towers got their tops again, and the work was completed in 2013. In September 2014 the castle reopened — not as a museum, but as a four-star congress hotel with a restaurant and wellness. It is one of the most complete castle reconstructions ever carried out in Slovakia, and it is genuinely contested. One view is that a ruin is a document: the losses are part of what it has to tell us. The other is that a roof and a use are the only things that keep a building standing at all. Obnova sa začala v roku 2009 pod dohľadom pamiatkových úradov, múry spevnili, strechy sa vrátili, veže dostali späť svoje vrcholy a práce dokončili v roku 2013. V septembri 2014 zámok znovu otvorili — nie ako múzeum, ale ako štvorhviezdičkový kongresový hotel s reštauráciou a wellness. Je to jedna z najúplnejších rekonštrukcií hradu, aké sa na Slovensku uskutočnili, a je naozaj sporná. Jeden názor hovorí, že zrúcanina je dokument: aj to, čo sa stratilo, patrí k jej výpovedi.
