The manor went up on the site of an older house from 1744 and was finished around 1750: a long, low, symmetrical late-baroque front with a tower over the entrance, a courtyard behind and outbuildings to the sides. Its fame rests on a conceit that was fashionable at the time — the building can be read as a calendar: four entrances for the seasons, seven arcades for the days of the week, twelve chimneys for the months, fifty-two rooms for the weeks and three hundred and sixty-five windows for the days. Whether every number still counts out exactly after three centuries of alterations is doubtful, and the museum says so itself; the idea, though, was real. It was also the moment when the mining country over the hill was at its most confident: a mining school opened in Banská Štiavnica in 1735 and was raised into an academy for the whole monarchy in the 1760s. This house is what that confidence looked like from the landowning side of it.Kaštieľ začali stavať na mieste staršieho domu v roku 1744 a dokončili ho okolo roku 1750: dlhé, nízke, súmerné neskorobarokové priečelie s vežou nad vstupom, za ním nádvorie a po stranách hospodárske budovy. Jeho sláva stojí na nápade, ktorý bol vtedy módny — budova sa dá čítať ako kalendár: štyri vstupy podľa ročných období, sedem arkád podľa dní v týždni, dvanásť komínov podľa mesiacov, päťdesiatdva miestností podľa týždňov a tristošesťdesiatpäť okien podľa dní. Či po troch storočiach úprav ešte každé číslo presne sedí, je pochybné a samo múzeum to priznáva; nápad však bol skutočný. Bol to zároveň čas, keď si banský kraj za kopcom veril najviac: v roku 1735 otvorili v Banskej Štiavnici banícku školu a v šesťdesiatych rokoch ju povýšili na akadémiu pre celú monarchiu. Tento dom je to, ako tá sebadôvera vyzerala zo zemepanskej strany.
