In 1946 Veľká Bytča, Malá Bytča with Beňov and Mikšová, and Hliník nad Váhom were merged into the single town that exists today — which is why people still speak of parts of Bytča by their old village names. On 3 April 1950 the state took the château and everything belonging to it, and it became the state regional archive holding the records of the old counties of the upper Váh. Communist industrialisation gave the town the trade it still lives on: rolling bearings, the same speciality as Kysucké Nové Mesto and Považská Bystrica further along the valley. A place that had once been important because of who lived in the big house was now important because of a factory and a filing system.Roku 1946 sa Veľká Bytča, Malá Bytča s Beňovom a Mikšovou a Hliník nad Váhom zlúčili do jedného mesta, aké poznáme dnes — preto ľudia dodnes hovoria o častiach Bytče starými názvami obcí. Tretieho apríla 1950 prevzal štát zámok aj všetko, čo k nemu patrilo, a sídlil v ňom štátny oblastný archív s písomnosťami starých stolíc horného Považia. Socialistická industrializácia dala mestu remeslo, z ktorého žije dodnes: valivé ložiská, tú istú špecializáciu ako Kysucké Nové Mesto a Považská Bystrica ďalej po doline. Miesto, ktoré bolo kedysi dôležité tým, kto býval vo veľkom dome, bolo teraz dôležité továrňou a archívom.
