Súľov today is a walk rather than a monument. The Súľovské skaly are a national nature reserve and the circuit through them from Súľov-Hradná is one of the most popular family walks in the country; the ruin is a turning off that circuit, free, unstaffed and easy to stroll straight past. What survives is fragments of wall and rock-cut footings built directly onto the conglomerate, with no roof, no interior and no barrier between you and the drop. Set your expectations by the record rather than by the setting: this was never a great castle, its documents are thin and contradictory, and the reason to climb the last stretch is the position, which explains itself in one look.Súľov je dnes skôr túrou než pamiatkou. Súľovské skaly sú národnou prírodnou rezerváciou a okruh, ktorý nimi vedie zo Súľova-Hradnej, patrí k najobľúbenejším rodinným vychádzkam na Slovensku; zrúcanina je odbočkou z tohto okruhu — zadarmo, bez obsluhy a ľahko ju prejdete bez povšimnutia. Zostali z nej zvyšky múrov a do skaly tesané základy postavené priamo na zlepenci, bez strechy, bez interiéru a bez zábradlia medzi vami a zrázom. Očakávania si nastavte podľa písomností, nie podľa scenérie: veľkým hradom to nikdy nebolo, jeho listiny sú chudobné a protirečivé a dôvodom vyliezť posledný úsek je poloha, ktorá sa vysvetlí sama na prvý pohľad.
