On 29 August 1956, the twelfth anniversary of the uprising, a memorial of white travertine was unveiled on the hill Zvonica above the gorge, the work of the sculptors Ladislav Snopek and Ladislav Beisetzer. It carries the names of fifty-six French fighters, and a crypt beneath it holds the remains of twenty-four who were killed here. That memorial is the reason a French name is read aloud in a Slovak valley every August. The castle itself waited longer: restoration work started in 1974 and ran for twenty-one years, which tells you how much of it there was left to put back.Dvadsiateho deviateho augusta 1956, v dvanástu ročnicu povstania, odhalili na kopci Zvonica nad tiesňavou pamätník z bieleho travertínu od sochárov Ladislava Snopka a Ladislava Beisetzera. Nesie mená päťdesiatich šiestich francúzskych bojovníkov a pod ním je krypta s pozostatkami dvadsiatich štyroch, ktorí tu padli. Práve pre tento pamätník sa v slovenskej doline každý august nahlas číta francúzske meno. Samotný hrad čakal dlhšie: obnova sa začala roku 1974 a trvala dvadsaťjeden rokov — čo dosť presne hovorí, koľko z neho vlastne zostalo.
