The twentieth century arrived at the foot of the hill. When the Slovak National Uprising broke out on 29 August 1944, the insurgent defence line ran through the gorge below this hill: from 31 August to 3 September Slovak soldiers, partisans and a French detachment fought a German force for the narrows and lost them on the fourth day. No account of the battle mentions the ruin itself. It stood above the fighting exactly as it had once stood above the toll road.Dvadsiate storočie prišlo až pod kopec. Keď 29. augusta 1944 vypuklo Slovenské národné povstanie, viedla povstalecká obranná línia tiesňavou pod týmto kopcom: od 31. augusta do 3. septembra bojovali slovenskí vojaci, partizáni a francúzsky oddiel s nemeckou presilou o úžinu a na štvrtý deň ju stratili. Nijaký opis tých bojov samotnú zrúcaninu nespomína. Stála nad nimi presne tak, ako kedysi stála nad mýtnou cestou.
