In 1914, the year the First World War began, the Révay family's hold on Sklabiňa came to an end and the property passed to two sisters, Mária Cebriánová and Róza Cebriánová, the second of them married to the composer Jenő Hubay. Stop on the arithmetic for a moment: one family, one castle and one county office, from 1527 to 1914 — three hundred and eighty-seven unbroken years, ending in the year the empire that the office belonged to marched off to a war it would not survive.
