The post-war decades brought industry to a town the land had never been able to keep: the spring works and engineering plant, Pružináreň a strojáreň, became the main employer, and in 1966 Brezová was raised to the status of a town. Štefánik meanwhile was inconvenient — an anti-Bolshevik whose legions had fought the Red Army — so his monuments came down elsewhere and the mound on Bradlo was simply left to the weather. It was declared a national cultural monument on 31 January 1968, in the brief window of the Prague Spring, which protected it on paper. Actually repairing it took another twenty years: the restoration ran from 1988 until 1996.Povojnové desaťročia priniesli priemysel do mesta, ktoré si pôda nikdy neudržala: hlavným zamestnávateľom sa stala Pružináreň a strojáreň a v roku 1966 povýšili Brezovú na mesto. Štefánik bol medzitým nepohodlný — odporca boľševizmu, ktorého légie bojovali proti Červenej armáde — a tak jeho pomníky inde padali a mohylu na Bradle nechali napospas počasiu. Za národnú kultúrnu pamiatku ju vyhlásili 31. januára 1968, v krátkom okne Pražskej jari, čo ju ochránilo aspoň na papieri. Skutočná oprava trvala ďalších dvadsať rokov: obnova prebiehala od roku 1988 do roku 1996.
