The last Keglevich gambled the estate away; it went to auction on 20 September 1890 and the buyers were the Habsburgs. Archduke Joseph August furnished the house lavishly, enlarged the park, dug ponds fed by a water system that still works, and in 1910 added a riding school, a coach house and a hunting lodge. The railway had reached the village from Šurany on 20 November 1895, which is what made a country estate usable as a modern residence. Every one of those additions matters for what comes next: the horses, the stables, the library and the furniture were all here when the empire ended, and nobody carried them away.Posledný Keglevich panstvo prehral; 20. septembra 1890 šlo do dražby a kúpili ho Habsburgovci. Arcivojvoda Jozef August dal kaštieľ bohato zariadiť, rozšíril park, vyhĺbil jazierka napájané vodným systémom, ktorý funguje dodnes, a v roku 1910 pribudla jazdiareň, vozáreň a poľovnícky zámoček. Železnica prišla do obce zo Šurian 20. novembra 1895 — až vďaka nej sa dalo vidiecke panstvo používať ako moderné sídlo. Každý z tých prírastkov je dôležitý pre to, čo príde: kone, maštale, knižnica aj nábytok tu boli, keď monarchia skončila, a nikto ich neodviezol.
