A plain white block with a tower at each corner, set on a rock where the Little Carpathians run out into the Danube. Bratislavans have called it the upturned table for generations, and the nickname is fair: this is a fortress-residence, deliberately unromantic, and it is still the most recognisable outline in Slovakia. The hill under it has been fortified since prehistory — Celts, Romans, Great Moravia, the Kingdom of Hungary and a twentieth-century rebuild are all stacked on the same rock.Jednoduchý biely kváder s vežou v každom rohu, posadený na skale tam, kde sa Malé Karpaty končia pri Dunaji.
