Most Slovak castles were killed by a fire, a siege or simple neglect. Divín was demolished on purpose, by its own side, because the man who held it had become a worse neighbour than the Ottomans across the hill. The ruin stands above the village on a wooded ridge, with the Ružiná reservoir spread out in the valley below — half an hour’s climb, and a swim afterwards if it is summer.Väčšinu slovenských hradov zabil požiar, obliehanie alebo obyčajné zanedbanie. Divín zbúrali zámerne — a urobila to jeho vlastná strana, pretože muž, ktorý ho držal, sa stal horším susedom než Osmani za kopcom.
