The trail starts in the village and does not waste any time. A marked path leaves the last houses, crosses a band of scrub and then simply goes up — loose stone underfoot, a few rock steps, no switchbacks worth the name. Reckon on twenty minutes to half an hour of honest effort. In dry weather it is a straightforward walk in trainers; in rain, and above all in ice, the same slope turns unpleasant, and there is nothing to hold on to.Chodník sa začína v dedine a nestráca čas. Značená cesta opustí posledné domy, prejde pásom krovín a potom už len stúpa — kamenná drť pod nohami, niekoľko skalných stupňov, serpentíny hodné toho mena žiadne.
The top is small, bare and almost always windy. What survives is wall — fragments of the perimeter, the stump of a tower, gateposts standing where a gate used to be — held together by recent consolidation work rather than by any roof. Turn round slowly and the whole point of the place becomes obvious: Prešov below to the south-west, the Slanské vrchy ridged along the eastern horizon, the Čergov hills to the north, and on a clear day the vast ruin of Šariš Castle far across the basin. The two ruins can see each other.
