For the better part of two centuries Hrušov was known to foresters and to almost nobody else. Since about 2005 the civic association Leustach — its full name means the association for the rescue of the medieval architectural heritage of the Nitra region — has worked on the ruin every season, mostly with hand tools carried up the hill. The sixteenth-century gate portal and the approach bridge were finished in 2026, and the inside of the southern cannon bastion is the current job. No road has ever reached Hrušov and none ever will, so every bag of lime that goes into these walls goes up on somebody's back.Takmer dve storočia poznali Hrušov iba horári a nikto iný. Približne od roku 2005 na zrúcanine pracuje každú sezónu občianske združenie Leustach — plným menom Združenie na záchranu stredovekého architektonického dedičstva nitrianskeho kraja — a väčšinou ručným náradím, ktoré treba vyniesť hore. Obnovu vstupného portálu zo 16. storočia a prístupového mosta dokončili v roku 2026, teraz je na rade interiér južnej delovej bašty. K Hrušovu nikdy neviedla cesta a ani viesť nebude, takže každé vrece vápna vynesie niekto na chrbte.
