Hrušov CastleHrad Hrušov

For half a century Hungarian nobles rose again and again against the Habsburg emperors, over taxes, over troops quartered on their estates and over the treatment of Protestants. The last and largest of those risings was led from 1703 by Francis II Rákóczi. In 1708 Hrušov was captured and destroyed in that war and nobody ever rebuilt it; that was the year of the rebel defeat at Trenčín, after which the imperial army worked its way through the strongholds still holding out. Which side actually wrecked the castle is not stated by the sources this page could check. So when you are told the Turks destroyed Hrušov, here is the correction: Nové Zámky had been back in imperial hands since 1685, and this was a civil war inside the kingdom.
