Revište belongs to the group of Slovak ruins being rescued not by one grand restoration but by sustained volunteer and heritage work, summer after summer. You can read it in the masonry: the old rubble core, older patches, and recent conservation with clean new mortar joints and capped wall-heads that keep water out of the top of a wall. That capping is what is actually holding the castle up — freezing water inside a wall is what pulls ruins apart. The result is visibly better than it was a generation ago, and Revište is one of the easiest big ruins in the country to reach: about twenty minutes up from the village of Revištské Podzámčie, whose name means simply the place under the castle.Revište patrí k slovenským zrúcaninám, ktoré nezachraňuje jedna veľkolepá rekonštrukcia, ale vytrvalá dobrovoľnícka a pamiatkarská práca, leto čo leto. Vidno to na murive: staré lomové jadro, staršie záplaty a nedávna konzervácia s čistými novými škárami a zakrytými korunami múrov, ktoré nepúšťajú vodu do vrchu muriva. Práve to zakrytie hrad drží — zrúcaniny rozoberá voda, ktorá v múre zamŕza. Výsledok je viditeľne lepší než pred generáciou a Revište patrí k najľahšie dostupným veľkým zrúcaninám u nás: asi dvadsať minút hore z obce Revištské Podzámčie, ktorej meno znamená jednoducho miesto pod hradom.
