Revište's last recorded use was at the end of the eighteenth century, when soldiers were quartered in it. After that its usefulness simply ran out. Artillery had made a castle of this kind pointless as a fortress, the wars in this valley were over, and nobody with money wanted to live halfway up a rock when a comfortable manor house could be built on the flat. Notice what did not happen: no siege, no destruction by the Turks, no dramatic ending. The roofs went first, then the floors, then the upper storeys — a century of rain, and of neighbours helping themselves to dressed stone for their own walls. Some accounts add a fire in the late eighteenth century, but no source names a year for it, and plain abandonment explains what is standing today just as well.Posledné doložené využitie Revišťa spadá na koniec osemnásteho storočia, keď v ňom boli ubytovaní vojaci.
